A pirataria vai chegar aos bens físicos!!!!!! ESCUTEM MINHAS PALAVRAS!!!

São Paulo- Os engenheiros da Universidade de Southampton, no Reino Unido, conseguiram, pela primeira vez, fazer voar um avião fabricado em uma impressora 3D.

À parte do motor elétrico, todos os componentes da aeronave foram fabricados em uma EOS EOSINT P730, máquina que cria objetos plásticos ou metálicos depositando materiais de camada em camada.

Até mesmo as asas, com envergadura de 2 metros, foram feita na máquina 3D. As partes podem ser montadas sem o uso de ferramentas, por meio de encaixes projetados e desenhados pelos lasers da impressora.

Chamado de SULSA (Southampton University Laser Sintered Aircraft), possui uma velocidade máxima de 160 km/h, um piloto automático e, por ser elétrico, realiza um voo bastante silencioso.

Apesar de ser um avião não-tripulado, ele é uma demonstração de como as impressoras podem mudar os processos de fabricação no futuro. Graças aos lasers, elas podem criar estruturas complexas, com recortes que seriam muito caros em processos de fabricação normal.

A ideia do projeto é mostrar que aeronaves mais complexas podem ser fabricadas em um dia, sem a necessidade de ferramentas.

Mais de 1/5 dos mais de três mil adultos ouvidos pela Cidade da Ciência de Birmingham disse acreditar que sabres-de-luz, as armas usadas pelos Jedis na saga Guerra nas Estrelas, são objetos reais. Já 24% das pessoas afirmam que, hoje em dia, humanos já podem ser teletransportados

Outros 30% dos britânicos crêem que viajar no tempo também seja possível nos dias de hoje, enquanto 50% dos adultos acham que já existem, em funcionamento, dispositivos capazes de apagar a memória. Além disso, mais de 40% acredita que skates voadores existam. Surpreendentemente, 18% dos adultos disse que a gravidade é algo que se consegue ver.

A enquete realizada em comemoração pela Semana Nacional de Ciência e Engenharia, de 11 a 20 de Março, tinha como objetivo ver quão embaçada está a fronteira que separa ficção cientifica e realidade.

Para os pesquisadores, isso mostra que, embora haja um grande interesse das pessoas pela ciência, a maioria não sabe o que realmente existe ou o que é apenas fruto da imaginação de um roteirista criativo. Por exemplo, 78% acreditam que capas da invisibilidade existem somente no mundo da ficção. Ainda assim, há diversos estudos que mostram que criar um dispositivo com este tipo de camuflagem invisível é sim possível. Alguns, inclusive, já foram criados.

Outro aspecto interessante da pesquisa foi revelar quais invenções as pessoas mais gostariam de criar. Entre os homens, as favoritas foram uma máquina do tempo (19%) e teletransporte (21%). Já as mulheres preferiam a cura universal de todas as doenças (26%).

This is the tale of someone who got tricked by Nomadesk.

I had a problem with them AND got tricked by them.

Plain and simple:

Last april (2010) my Hard disk drive got fried. I paied 3 times the value of a new one to get it recovered. It worked. So I wanted to backup my 1 thera of data somewhere it could be safe in case anything could ever happen again to at least 5 years of work, research and personnal stuff. After checking a hole bunch of services on the internet, i chose NOMADESK. After 3 months I realise it was an unfortunate mistake to do so.

I bought the unlimited service package and tried it out.

ok, it works.

I started getting my songs there, just to see if nomadesk could handle it. (I work in the music business.. I have over 80 Gigas of CDs ripped on an external HD, along with my own songs and the final versions of stuff I have produced in general).

The upload was terible. It took 3 months to get maybe 30 gigas on their server. I tried talking to them and check if it was normal. They said their conection was around one giga.. well.. mine too!  Anyway…

One day, i forgot my password… and to reset it, you must reinstall a software nomadesk provides.

After reistalling it. all my songs got corrupted. Let me explain. The 30 Gigas I uploaded plus the other 50 gigas THAT WERE NEVER UPLOADED GOT CORRUPTED! ON MY EXTERNAL HD!

Files that dont exist on the web, if you are thinking downloading them legally or ilegally… personal stuff that i hadnt backuped in over 2 years!

So… By an act of God (or something like it) the comapny that saved my fried HD in the past did not delete what they restored! So i just when back there and saved all the files i needed again!!!

Now, I wanted to get rid of nomadesk.. and since I paid 50 bucks for a hole year, i wanted the equivalent of 9 months back…

I didn get it so far… after 7 months all I read on emails is “the billing dep. will get to you shortly”

I just got tired of it… below you can check all the back and forth between me and Nomadesk as proof.

Hope this post gets to whoever wants to use their services.. and my advice is: DON’T!

Ainda acho q esse papo de água acabando é uma puta duma balela do caralho…. o mundo já foi feito de vulcão, um colado no outro e tudo fedendo a enxofre… e tudo já foi coberto de gelo….  a água que temos hoje era a mesma que tinha nessa época. Água evapora no oceano, chove na nascente, pega os sais minerais da terra e desce rio a baixo…. Aonde está o furo nessa equação?

O processo demora?  Limpemos a água suja, pourra!

Um inventor australiano, Max Whisson, desenvolveu um extradionário instrumento capaz de extrair água do ar. De acordo com o fabricante, O Max Water é capaz de extrair cerca de 10.000 litros de água por dia utilizando uma turbina contendo refrigeradores. Uma excelente idéia para aplicação em regiões com escassez de água, como o nordeste brasileiro por exemplo.

O resfriamento do ar é realizado sem o uso de qualquer fonte externa de energia. É algo como um moinho de vento mutante. O vento sopra através de uma série de turbinas que então energizam uma séria de pratos refrigeradores. Quando o ar passa através desses pratos, a água condensa entre eles e as gotas formadas escoam para um tanque coletor. Pense na água que condensa em um vidro frio ou as gotas d’água geradas por aparelhos de ar condicionado. O fenômeno é o mesmo.

De acordo com Whisson, uma unidade seria suficiente para produzir água suficiente para três ou quatro famílias, funcionando até mesmo nas regiões de clima extremamente secos.

No site da empresa - Water UN Limited – há uma interessante animação sobre o funcionamento do aparelho, além de um manual explicando os fenômenos envolvidos e o quanto de água se pode extrair do ar em função do tipo de usuário (pequeno grupo, fazenda, distrito…) e do tamanho da turbina instalada.

O preço sugerido para a engenhoca é algo em torno de $40.000 dólares. A companhia planeja a doação de parte das unidades finalizadas (o aparelho ainda está em fase de testes) à áreas com escassez de água em países em desenvolvimento.

We were just about getting ready to warm up for the practice game over the weekend when I had an interesting conversation with one of the team mates I actually didn’t know quite well.

“So what do you do?” he asked. “Well, we work for ourselves, we run a software company”, I replied. “Oh really! that’s awesome! I work for xyz company, but you know I always wanted to get into animation design and work for myself. It was my dream. I got stuck in the wrong industry”

“You ain’t dead yet, are you?” I thought trying hard not say that aloud. He continued “You know, I’ve been wanting to do this for 10 years now, but once you have a family, it’s very tough to do anything else”

I couldn’t resist anymore, so I said “That’s great, if you really want to do that, may be you should take up some animation classes, or do some self learning at your own pace. That would be a good start”. Pat came the reply “Nahh it’s very difficult, with family, full time job, no time. I would love to, but I can’t”

Reluctantly, I suggested “Then may be you should consider training full time for a few weeks/months and perhaps dive in full-time?” He looked at me like I had just asked him to cut off his right hand. “Are you crazy? Where will the paycheck come from?”

Realizing this conversation was heading towards an argument with someone I didn’t know very well at the first place, I chose to just smile and leave it at that. But it made me think. What is it with people refusing to take some risks to follow their dreams. Are their dreams not worth it? If not, why do we sulk about them later? Don’t we owe it to ourselves to at least give our dreams a fair shot?

Now, I understand, diving in full time isn’t always an option for everybody, but that shouldn’t deter us from at least starting to move in the right direction. Take baby steps I say, if you can’t afford drastic measures, but for God’s sake don’t kill your dreams.

We all had some crazy ideas and dreams when we were kids. When people asked – “What do you want to do when you grow up?” you didn’t say “I want to play safe and be an executive for a fortune 100 company” or “I want to work for the government for the job security”? You wanted to do something that excited you, that you were passionate about – “Armed forces, scientist, sports, music, dance, miss world” etc. You didn’t even think if that would get you enough money. You just wanted to do it.

So why is it that as we grow up we lose all the passion, the energy, the will and the strength to keep our dreams alive. Why does money dictate our passion or in most cases, kill it? Why do we let “safety of a paycheck” screw our dreams? Why do we stop thinking about what we love?

We are so seduced by the thought of a guaranteed paycheck every month that we completely ignore the fact that it’s actually never too late to pursue our dreams. The reason as I can understand is probably “fear of failure”.  We fear we might fail and that fear leads us to cook up stories about why you can’t have what you want. Alibis like “I don’t have time, I have family, I’ll do it when I have more money etc”. Stories that convince us that it’s ok not to follow up on our dreams, that it’s ok not to do what you love, that it’s ok to just keep doing the everyday drill.

Like Tony Robbins put it – “The only thing that’s keeping you from getting what you want is the story you keep telling yourself about why you can’t have it”

What are we waiting for? A perfect day when all stars would line up in just the right direction and you would be guaranteed success? It never works that way. That moment of glory never arrives. All circumstances will almost never be in your favor. There will always be something that would be challenging. You just have to bite the bullet and take the plunge. When we set out to create Rootein, we didn’t wait for everything to be just perfect, much as we would have liked. We just dived in. We started developing rootein while we were working full-time. We loved what we were doing and we did it while keeping our day time jobs. It wasn’t easy, but it was fun because we were chasing our dream of working for ourselves, building software that we were passionate about.

May be it’s just us. May be we are weird. May be we are foolish, but we would rather be foolish and strive to live our dream than come up with some alibis. True success is not money driven, it’s driven by love and passion. You’ve got to love what you are doing and you’ve got to be passionate about it.

Failing is not scary. What’s scary is that you are 60 and reflecting back on your life “May be I should’ve given my dreams a chance, may be I would’ve succeeded, may be I would’ve lived my dream” But now it’s too late. You might have missed the boat.

Don’t be scared to follow your dreams. That’s the worst thing you can do to yourself.
